JW Web Add-on

An add-on tool for publishers that provides enhanced functionality, a better experience, and customization options for JW websites.

This addon offers a suite of features for publishers, including quick access to the daily text, language count, and media customization options. You can generate links, QR codes, and transcripts, as well as personalize subtitles and the media player UI. Enhance your browsing experience on JW websites with features designed to meet your needs.

Features

These are all the features currently offered by the add-on. Over time, more features will be added as needed.

Show the descriptive text that explains the content of the image.
Comment Transfer
Easily move comments from the website's comment boxes to the corresponding app.
Copy Text
Instantly copy the selected paragraph or verse with a single click.
Custom Media Player UI
Adjust the transparency of media controls to reduce dimming or obstruction of the video while watching.
Custom Subtitle
Adjust the font size and style of subtitles to minimize distractions while watching videos.
Daily Text
Access today's daily text and weekly meeting materials right in the Library.
Expand Width
Expand the webpage to utilize the full width of the screen when viewing content in the Online Library.
Language Count
View the number of languages in which the current content is accessible.
Media Timestamp
Generate a link for the current video that includes the specific timestamp, with the option to copy it.
Open in App
Continue reading content from the website in the app or Online Library, and seamlessly continue watching or listening to media from the website in the app.
Paragraph Link
Automatically generate a link for each selected paragraph or verse, with the option to copy it.
QR Code
Automatically generate a QR code for the selected text or media timestamp, with the option to download it.
Video Transcript
Generate and download a transcript of the spoken content from the video.

Each feature is controlled by the root control of the add-on, which can be accessed by clicking the add-on icon. You can enable or disable features within this root control.

Not all features are available on all websites. Features that are not available on a particular website will not have a toggle option.

Download

This add-on is supported by the majority of web browsers that support add-ons on desktop computers. It is also available on select mobile web browsers. Click the download button for your corresponding web browser.

How to Use

Follow the instructions on how to use the add-on's features. These instructions are also available in the root control.

Text

Alt Text

Click the toggle beside 'Appearance Settings' to enable or disable alt texts.

Copy Text

Select a paragraph or verse and then click the 'Copy' icon.

Daily Text

Go to the 'Library' tab and click the button above the featured library content.

Expand Width

Click the hamburger menu located at the bottom right corner of the content and then select the button underneath the 'Font Size' option.

Language Count

The total language count can be viewed in every article and media item near the language picker.

Paragraph Link

Select a paragraph or verse and then click the 'Link' or 'Share' icon.

Media

Custom Media Player UI

Click the 'Custom UI' icon in the video controls beside the 'Settings' icon.

Custom Subtitle

Open the video player settings, select the 'Subtitles' option in the list, then click the 'Customize' button.

Media Timestamp

Click the 'Play with dot' icon in the media controls group on the right side. Double click to show more options.

Video Transcript

Click the 'Download' button on the video, then select the 'TXT' option from the list.

Notes

If a feature similar to one in this add-on is officially provided by the website, you can disable the corresponding feature using the root control in the add-on to avoid conflicts. The next update of the add-on will eventually remove the redundant feature.

The website used by this tool is subject to change. If changes to the website cause issues or conflicts with certain features of this add-on, you can temporarily disable the affected feature using the root control in the add-on until a new update is released with a fix.

No personal data is collected or required for this extension. It is designed purely as a tool to enhance functionality, improve user experience, and provide customization options, requiring only minimal permissions to operate.

Some features of this add-on require you to accept the website's Privacy Policy to function correctly. This is because certain features, such as custom subtitles, custom media player UI, alt text, and others, need to remember your preferences. Without accepting the Privacy Policy, these features will not be able to remember your preferences and will not work as intended. This add-on will not override your privacy settings on the website; it will simply adhere to the policy you've set.
